I found a Twin!

by T.M Kayode

In a sheer twist of what can only be described as a Kairos moment (you know, one of those perfectly timed, life-changing encounters), I met someone on the 12th of September who I can only describe as my Twin.

No, not an actual twin. But the similarities in our life experiences, our ideologies, and even our quirks were so eerily identical that we immediately recognized our “Twinship” – a bond that felt like it had been waiting to happen for years.

For instance…

We went to the same university, and we both had a pivotal moment during the 10th anniversary of the school. The Chancellor made a bold declaration about the next decade, setting out a vision for the future, and something about that speech hit us both in the same way. It was like God was saying: Hey, listen up! Life as you know is about to change. We both walked away that day knowing we were meant to live extraordinary lives and were empowered to go out and do just that.

Then, there’s our shared love of research and teaching research skills at the highest level. I mean, we could easily have hours-long conversations about methodologies, analysis, and data collection without either of us getting bored. That’s how you know you’ve met your match, right?

But let me tell you—it gets better.

We’re both obsessed with Sherlock Holmes. We’ve watched all the Sherlock adaptations (yes, every single one) and read the books. We should have a Sherlock marathon to review every movie adaptation and compare them with the original storylines in the books. That would be so cool.

Then came The Chosen. If you haven’t seen it, get on it. Directed by Dallas Jenkins, it’s like no other Christian storytelling experience. And guess what? We both love it! We also realized that, as kids, we both devoured the Left Behind series, co-written by Dallas Jenkins’ dad, Jerry Jenkins. Talk about serendipity!

But it wasn’t just these fun little similarities. God clearly had plans when we crossed paths that day. I was explaining the detailed research methodology I used while writing Mrs. A—which, by the way, was a serious deep dive into data, sources, and structure. My Twin immediately understood the value and importance of it all, even connecting me with someone in her network who needed that same level of detailed research.

And what do you know? Without me even realizing it, she sent a text. Just like that, doors opened, and I was given one of the best introductions I’ve ever received. Seriously, it was top-tier. I couldn’t have written it better myself (and I like to think I’m pretty good with words).

Then, on the 13th of September—just a day after meeting my Twin—I found myself speaking with one of Africa’s greatest minds and thought leaders. This person is a game-changer in every sense of the word, and the opportunity came about because of this sudden, uncanny connection with my Twin. Wild, right?

There’s so much more to say about this, but I’ll leave that for another time. Just know that when you align yourself with God’s purpose for your life,  He brings you the people you need, right when you need them.

Until next time…
