End-of-Year Scramble: Holiday Prep and 2025 Plans

by T.M Kayode

Today has been a day and a half—all crammed into one!

I literally forgot it was Wednesday (midweek already?!) and I promised myself I wouldn’t miss another post before the year wraps up. So here we are!

Right now, my mind is buzzing with all the unfinished projects and holiday prep that I need to conclude before 2025 officially rolls in.

Honestly, there’s so much to do that it feels like I’m sprinting to the finish line of the year.

Let me walk you through my checklist—it’s a mix of chaos, humor, and a little panic (but in a good way).

Family Holiday Prep

Let’s start with the Christmas tree situation. Can you believe we haven’t set up our tree yet?

Gasp! I know.

And here’s the kicker—I can’t even find it. How does one lose a six-foot Christmas tree?

I’ve checked every closet, every storage space, and even random corners of the house, but it’s like the tree packed itself up and left for the holidays.

Meanwhile, Dabbie has been giving us the side-eye over our treeless existence. She’s becoming very impatient, and I can’t say I blame her.

Then there’s the matter of Christmas gifts. I haven’t planned anything for the family yet.

Not. A. Thing.

What is wrong with me? Hahaha! Usually, I have at least a rough idea by now, but this year I’m running behind.

And let’s not even talk about our Christmas day menu—I usually have it planned out weeks in advance, but this time? Nada.

And oh, the kids’ teachers! I like to get them thoughtful little gifts as a token of appreciation for all their hard work, and I haven’t done anything about that either. Sigh. That’s definitely on my to-do list for tomorrow.

But hey, it’s not all bad news—we did take our yearly family Christmas picture, so there’s at least one thing checked off the holiday tradition list. Yaaaaaay us!

Planning for the Rest of December

Now, here’s something exciting: there’s a conference I’ve been eyeing that’s happening on December 21st—this Saturday!

I really want to attend, but there’s so much to plan: flights, Airbnb, transportation, and all the little details.

It’s going to be a quick trip, but I think it’ll be worth it. Fingers crossed I can pull everything together in time.

Also, does anyone else like to give their house a deep clean before the new year?

There’s just something about starting the year fresh with a sparkling-clean home. I’d love to get that done before we officially wave goodbye to 2024.

Looking Ahead to 2025

Another big thing on my mind is strategy for next year.

There are so many ideas and plans floating around in my head—some for the blog, some for my projects, and some for family life.

I really need to carve out some time to sit down, settle my thoughts, and document everything properly.

There’s something about putting plans on paper (or a Google Doc) that makes them feel real and actionable.

2025 feels like a big year in the making, and I want to enter it with clarity and purpose. But first, I need to get through the rest of 2024 with my sanity intact.

What About You?

So, what about you? How’s your holiday prep going? Are you ahead of schedule, or are you scrambling like me? What’s on your holiday menu? Are you deep-cleaning your house, too, or is that just my thing?

Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear how everyone else is navigating this beautiful, chaotic season.

Until next time…
Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
