Alright, it’s 4:59 a.m., and I’m currently listening to an amazing podcast with Dallas Jenkins and Jordan B. Peterson. If you’re curious, you can check it out here: Podcast Link.
Yup, I’m a huge fan of The Chosen series—been one since way before I moved to the US from Nigeria. It’s one of those things that sticks with you, and Dallas Jenkins just keeps raising the bar with every season.
Recap of Yesterday
So, about yesterday…
First off, we finally got all the items for the Christmas Menu! 🎉 This was a huge accomplishment because honestly, I woke up yesterday not wanting to move a limb. But we powered through (H and I deserve a massive pat on the back for this one), and now we’re all set to start cooking.
In the same vein, we also purchased all the gifts. That’s another win! That said, I completely forgot to pick up wrapping paper and the other things we’ll need for gift wrapping. Typical me, right? Haha.
Dabbie and I went into the store together while H stayed in the car with Tiara. As you can imagine, Dabbie had opinions about the gifts. It was actually fun watching her browse and point out what she thought would be perfect.
Book Check: The Triple Package
And yes, I finally finished The Triple Package by Amy Chua and Jed Rubenfeld! What a phenomenal book. I’ll save a deeper review for later, but I’ll say this: if you’re looking for a book that blends academic depth with accessible writing, this is it. Amy and Jed are academics, and this book is a masterclass in how academic authors can write for a mass, non-academic audience.
Actually, I’m thinking about reviewing the books I’ve read this year. Would anyone be interested in that? Let me know in the comments!
Speaking of updates, if you’re enjoying these little life snippets, why not subscribe to the blog? It’s the easiest way to stay connected and catch every post as we wrap up the year and head into 2024.
What’s on the Agenda Today?
Here’s what’s on my list for today:
- Create the Christmas Menu Card: This has been a yearly tradition for me, and I love designing it to add that special touch to Christmas morning.
- Start Pre-Cooking: Some dishes need a little head start, so I’m planning to tackle those today to save time tomorrow.
- Extended Conversation with a Mentor: I’m super excited about this. I’ve set aside a good chunk of the day for this discussion, and I know it’s going to be valuable.
Looking Ahead
Starting on December 26th, I’ll be setting aside some time to reflect on this year, meditate with God, and seek clarity for 2025. This is one of my favorite end-of-year practices, and I honestly can’t wait to dive into it.
How’s your Christmas prep going? Are you all set, or are you still running around like me? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear about it!
Until next time…
Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
